Together for the Pies

Together for the Pies is a community project that harvests, shares, cooks, and juices surplus fruit and veg which may otherwise go to waste in Usk.

This is a free voluntary service by members of Usk Together for the Climate and the collected produce is given away for free to people and groups in the area. An example of how the fruit may be distributed is at harvest festivals or 'The Big Breakfast’ at the Memorial Hall.

Collection

We plan to collect from anyone who would like to give from mid-August to the end of September.

You can get involved as a contributor, collector or recipient simply by emailing togetherfortheclimateusk@gmail.com or calling Gerry on 07770552705.

Or fill out the form on the link below and we'll be in touch.

Harvest Exchange

We are looking for community groups and social enterprises in Usk who can help us make sure good locally grown food does not go to waste.

If you are interested in receiving surplus harvest, get in touch togetherfortheclimateusk@gmail.com or calling Gerry on 07770552705

Long Term Goals

In the long term the idea is to store local produce so that we can distribute and use out of season, collecting abundant fruit and vegetables locally and making them freely available to our community.

Woodland Trust sites

There are many Woodland Trust sites around where individuals can forage. The Trust does not want large commercial picking but are happy to have anyone visit the sites and take what they need but be respectful of other users of the site.

Cefn Ila is the nearest site, and it is truly a beautiful and tranquil location. https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/woods/cefn-ila/
